Nazaré is a Portuguese village located in the center of the country, known for its beach, and it’s lift that takes us from Sitio da Nazaré (mountain) to the beach.
Outside it is best known for the giant waves of the northern beach that are surfed by adventurous surfers who travel the world in search of the biggest wave.
Crazy guys like Garrett McNamara (who fell in love with this little village and exchanged Hawaii by Portugal to live). Earlier this year, Portuguese surfer Hugo Vau may have beaten the Mcnamara world record by surfing a wave with about 30 meters, 7 more than the American record. Nazare cannon on the north beach beating records every day.
If you do not like surfing, forget the Cannon of Nazaré and visit this village, to know a little about its history and gastronomy and enjoy its beach.
It is a typical fishing village with its beaches, one of the must-see places in Portugal, if you visit this paradise in the southwest of the European continent.
